DC Wins Legal Rights to Superboy Franchise and Movie

A U.S. District Court ruling in DC’s favor has given Warner Brothers a green light to go ahead with a Superboy movie adaptation. The ruling settles the aftermath of a complaint filed by the Siegel estate in 2004 over the Smallville TV series, which avoided using the name “Superboy.” The Siegel estate filed the complaint despite a 1948 settlement where DC paid Siegel and Shuster $94,000 to end all claims to Superboy. The new ruling upholds DC’s rights to the character and franchise and, if Man of Steel proves a success, may hopefully lead to a Superboy movie.
